Location description

Durban is a world metropolis with about 4 million inhabitants and is the ideal starting point to get to know the ‘civilized’ Africa.

Thanks to its international airport, which is only a 30min drive away (Kind Shaka Airport) the area enjoyed a tremendous amount of tourist. Direct flight to Durban are currently operated by the following airlines: Emirates, Turkish Airline and Qatar. Lufthansa will fly to Durban via Johannesburg.

Durban boasts a mild climate and the welcoming beaches of the warm Indian Ocean, whose water does not fall below 20 degrees – even in winter! It is also ideal for surfers which will find ideal conditions not only here in Durban but also in Ballito, 60km from Durban.

The local winter (May to August) is characterized by nearly day-long sunshine at around 24 degrees. In the evening, however, a jacket is highly recommended.

For sports enthusiast several golf courses, different fitness studios, jogging along the beach promenade, mountain biking, rugby and cricket is readily available.

Kit surfer can be found in Ballito and in Amanzimtoti, about 20km south of Durban.

Numerous shopping opportunities are available, including the Gateway Mall (the 3rd biggest shopping mall in South Africa) with 166.000 square meters and the Pavilion, which still boast 135.000 square meters.

Kloof is little further in the west of Durban. Located at 530 metres above sea level, the climate is known as one of the best in South Africa. Only 35.000 people live in the cosy village which received its name from the steep valley of the Molweni River. The word ‘Kloof’ is derived from one of the local languages meaning Gorge. Kloof stand out for its large property stands (minimum size 1800 square meters) and the abundance of open spaces.

The Golfer will find various golf courses.

For those who do not want to enjoy a round of golf the spare time can be spent in the local fitness centre or by going on a hike in the local rainforest, The Kloof Gorge.
There are also many other leisure activities:
Shongweni invites you to ride horses
The Drakensberge with the Sani Pass (2.864m) is a great place for hikes and can be reached easily by car (250km)
The Drakensberg Boys Choir is a large private school located in the same region.
The Golden Gate Nature Reserve boasts a unique landscape up to 2.200m and the very special flair of Clarens, a little village with many small galleries.
You prefer to see the BIG 5? Hluhluwe and Nambiti are waiting for you and offer the famous Big 5. Both game parks are within easy reach of a 2 ½ hours car ride.

Numerous local shopping opportunities make the life of the housewife easy and the Private School life up to a very high international standard

Sodwana and Umkomaas invite you to dive into another world, or would you prefer to dive with Shark? Shark and Shark Cage diving is also available in Umkomaas.

We would like to welcome you to our interesting and versatile country!
